Flash in the Pan

Flash in the Pan

Flash in the Pan.  Watercolor & Crayon.
Three paintings, each about 6.5 x 5 inches.
Working on 300 lb hot press paper again, where the whole idea is to get an abstract out of a set of watercolors.  The underlying colors are perinone orange, cobalt, indigo, and quin pink.  The crayon over the top is a blue, gray, and pink.  Here's what they looked like in progress--I probably went a little dark with the watercolor....

Working on a set of interconnected abstracts. This is one and the edge of another. #abstract #watercolor #art

No. 7--Abstracted Bouquet, Watercolor
Just under a full sheet

Usually, I try and post pics to my blog that I take with my camera since the picture quality is so much better, but I've gotten incredibly inefficient about that.  So, I'm going to try and be more consistent about getting my paintings up here no matter how good the picture quality is..... Or, I'll buy a new camera....

Anyhow, this is the bouquet I was working from:

I'm sure that you can tell that I walked away from reality, which makes it much more fun.  I'm painting on cold press paper, and it's 140 lb.  Since I typically use 300 lb paper, this change was slightly jolting--the paper was buckled like mad.

I'm waiting for the paint to dry, and then I'll go back and make final corrections to value and maybe modify some shapes.

Paper:  140 lb Fabriano cold press
Paint:  Daniel Smith Quin Gold, Quin Burnt Orange, Indigo, and cobalt violet.
